Place one cat in every row, column, and color. Cats cannot touch, even at the corners.

The rules on a small board

Step 9 of 9The last cat fills the last row. Solved: one cat per row, column, and color.
  1. Read the colors. Each color is one region. The squares in a region touch by the edges, and each region also has its own pattern so the puzzle is not color alone.
  2. Fill every row, column, and region. Place exactly one cat in each row, each column, and each colored region.
  3. Keep the cats apart. Two cats cannot touch, even at the corners. Diagonal neighbors are too close.
  4. Mark the squares you rule out. Tap a square for a cat, tap again for a cross, and tap a third time to clear it. A cross is only a note. It is not a cat.
  5. Check, hint, or undo. Check points out broken rules. Hint places one correct cat. Undo takes the last tap back, including a hint.

A way to start

Look for a color that only has one square in some row. That square is often forced. After you place a cat, cross out the squares it rules out so the next forced cat is easier to see. The easy board above is a 6×6 if you want to try that before a larger grid.
