A cat queens puzzle is a queens-style logic puzzle: one cat in each row, column, and color, and no two cats on touching squares.
One cat in every row, column, and color
A cat queens puzzle is the queens rules drawn with cats. Each row holds one cat, each column holds one cat, and each colored region holds one cat. Two cats cannot sit on squares that touch, including a corner. That touch rule is only about neighbors. A cat does not clear a whole diagonal the way a chess queen would.
Cross out squares that would break a rule. When a row, a column, or a color has one open square left, that square is the cat. The board above is a complete cat queens puzzle, and it has one solution. Learn the marks on how to play, or start on a smaller map with easy 6×6 boards.
The same placement rules are also written up as a queens game. Here the pieces are cats, the grid is ready to play, and you can take today’s shared board or press New puzzle for another.
